Education-Health: the EduSaMu project presented to the IA of Pikine-Guédiawaye

Following the example of the Inspections d'Académie (IA) of Dakar and Rufisque, ENDA Santé and the Coalition des Organisations en Synergie pour la Défense de l'Éducation Publique (Cosydep) in consortium are continuing the presentation of the project Education and Health Mobilized in Emergency Situations (EduSaMu) to the educational authorities.

This Tuesday, November 15, it is the turn of the IA of Pikine Guédiawaye to receive a mission of information and connection of the actors of the education and health sectors. For the two non-governmental organizations piloting this 30-month project, the aim is to ensure the inclusive involvement of education, health, administrative and state authorities.

EduSaMu's ambition is to enable stakeholders in both sectors to be resilient in times of health crisis. The Covid-19 pandemic affected teachers and health professionals in a major way.

For ENDA Santé and Cosydep, the country must learn from this pandemic and anticipate in order to allow both sectors to face future health emergencies. This is the purpose of the EduSaMu project, which intends to equip education and health actors in the 14 regions of Senegal. In turn, they will be able to train their peers. To this end, micro-projects will be financed.

The Secretary General of the Inspection d'Académie of Pikine-Guédiawaye, Idrissa Gueye, who received the delegation of the 2 organizations, is pleased with the collaboration between teachers' unions and health unions. According to him, it is important that the latter join hands to prepare for health emergencies. Idrissa Gueye finds the EduSaMu project relevant and is committed to accompanying the actors in its implementation.

It should be recalled that all regions have already received the delegation of ENDA Santé and Cosydep except Ziguinchor and Kolda.
