The international NGO ENDA Santé, in partnership with Transform Health, has officially launched the Senegal Coalition for the Digital Transformation of Health. The launch was attended by the representative of the Minister of Health and Social Action, Mr. Doudou Sonko, and representatives of the Health and Social Map Unit, Digital Health and the Health Observatory (CSSDOS).
This platform, which brings together some twenty organizations representing young people, women, vulnerable people and private-sector players in the healthcare sector, aims to facilitate, pool and federate initiatives in the digitalization of the healthcare system and the governance of health data.
There are many challenges on the issue of digitization and governance of health data, and we, civil society players, in partnership with all sectors, are going to work on these aspects, which are also issues of human rights and sovereignty for our country, to find solutions together.
Abdou Aziz Mandiang, Project Manager, ENDA Santé
The launch marks a decisive step for the coalition. Doudou Sonko reminded the audience of the Ministry of Health's high expectations, notably in terms of data governance, but also in terms of awareness-raising to ensure massive community support for the digitization of healthcare.
The launch was the result of a process that included visits to member organizations, the Ministry of Health and Social Action through the CSSDOS, the Personal Data Protection Commission (CDP) and other partner structures. Meetings to exchange and share experiences and co-construction sessions were also held.
Transform Health Senegal is the 6th coalition to be set up worldwide. It is a member of the global movement of organizations advocating for an equitable digital transformation of healthcare systems to achieve health for all.
