FEVE: Exchange of experiences visit with the Cape Verde team

The Frontiers and Vulnerabilities to HIV in West Africa (FEVE) programme is implemented in nine countries: Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, and Gambia.

In order to harmonise the database management system of the FEVE programme in all intervention countries, a common software was developed. This software also makes it possible to improve the quality of the data to better take into account the new requirements for monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Thus, the start-up and preparation workshop for FEVE 3 project activities in September 2016 was an opportunity to create, share and test the software.
In 2017, when evaluating the use of the software, the FEVE Cap Vert team encountered difficulties in installing and operationalising the software. To overcome these difficulties, a technical support mission was organised in December 2016 in Cape Verde.

In 2018, a new version of the software, taking into account the results of the evaluation, was developed and deployed in the implementing organisations of the nine countries of the FEVE network. However, difficulties were again encountered, this time in entering data, particularly in transferring data from version 3 to version 4 and compiling the backups of the different institutions implementing the programme in Cape Verde.

In order to solve these problems and to strengthen the FEVE Cape Verde team in the monitoring and documentation of the project, an exchange of experience and technical support visit was held from 30 October to 3 November in Mbour, Senegal.
