FEVE: 3rd Regional Steering Committee Meeting announces a more harmonised response to HIV

On 19 and 20 September 2019, the regional office of ENDA Health in collaboration with the ENDA office in Guinea Bissau, held the 3rd meeting of the Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the FEVE programme, phase 3.

Organised in Bissau, the meeting brought together a large delegation from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the project's financial partner, representatives of the governments and NGOs of the 9 programme intervention countries(Senegal, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire), the Regional Coordination, SAN/ACCES Luxembourg and representatives of UNAIDS.

The meeting was also attended by Mr Marc Angel, UNAIDS Ambassador and Member of the National Assembly of Luxembourg, who expressed his support for the programme.

The two-day meeting took place in the form of sessions and field visits, including the mid-term evaluation of the programme, meetings with beneficiaries, identification of priorities and prospects, and expected results.

This third meeting was an opportunity to take stock of the implementation of activities and performance from 2016 to 2018 and to make the final presentation of the results of the Peer Review from 2018 to 2019.

A photo exhibition was also held on the first day to capture the highlights of each stage of the programme activities:

  • Combined prevention through awareness raising and screening
  • Care
  • Support and retention in care

Since its first phase, the FEVE programme has been contributing to the implementation of harmonised responses among the intervention countries in order to increase the number of people who know their HIV status towards the target of the first 90 and indirectly to contribute to the targets for treatment and viral load suppression.
