Entrepreneurship: ENDA Santé builds the capacity of associations in leadership and management

ENDA Santé has just started a new project for key target populations to develop their leadership and organisational capacity.

With funding from the NGO OSIWA (Open Society Initiative For West Africa), this project strengthens the capacities of three associations in Dakar and Mbour through three components: a technical component, a financial inclusion component and networking between associations.

  • The technical component includes training for leaders and members of associations on leadership, administrative and financial management, associative life and the community approach.
  • The financial inclusion component corresponds to the setting up of collective income-generating activities (IGAs) and the organisation of diploma training. This component will also include practical training on associative management.
  • Finally, the aim of the last component is to enable better coordination and more systematic sharing of experiences between the various associations and self-support groups in Dakar, Mbour, Kaolack, Diourbel, Kafountine, Ziguinchor and Cap Skirring. These meetings could eventually lead to the creation of a network of associations of the key populations concerned.

The project's initial start-up activities consisted of organising missions to meet with associations in order to present the project's various components and activities and to collect and identify the training needs and expectations of association leaders.

Various training needs and expectations were identified following exchanges between the project team and the association leaders.
Thus, a workshop was held in Mbour from 5 to 7 March with the objective of strengthening the capacities of association leaders in terms of leadership, team management, administrative management and financial management.
